Hi guys, this DIY came as a result of me being really impatient. I’ve wanted a pair of thigh high boots for ages after seeing them all over the runway but I just couldn’t find ones I loved. All I could find were really shiny PVC hooker looking ones. No thanks lol so I decided to try making my own. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out but I think they turned out alright.
Ok so for this DIY you’ll need…
A pair of boots for the base. they can be as high or low as you want.
An old leather jacket (it would be better to buy one from a thrift store in a large size as you’ll be using the sleeves).
A sewing machine
Chalk (or anything else to mark the fabric)
These are the boots I used. I got them ages ago and just never wore them
First, cut the sleeves off a leather jacket. When picking the jacket, try to find one that matches the thickness and shine of the leather on your base boots so it blends much better.
Next measure how high you want your boots to go up your thigh and mark these on the sleeve. Mark 2cms more on the bottom end of the sleeve (this goes into the boot)
Then cut along the lines you’ve made…
Fold the top end of the sleeve and sew to give it a nice clean finish..
You can sew the bottom bit to the end of your base but or just put it on over or under your base boot (in case you want to change your mind later) Here’s how mine turned out. What do you think?
