Hey guys! Right so ever since I posted a picture of my new hair colour on instagram I’ve been getting a lot of people asking me how I got that colour so I decided to share how I did with you guys because I’ve been trying to get my hair this colour for a loonnnnggg time but it never really worked and I’ve tried loads of different ways but to no avail so if you’ve been searching for a way to get grey hair just like I was, hopefully this will help. 🙂
By the way, you’re gonna need your imagination a little bit because I didn’t actually take pictures while doing this as I genuinely didn’t think it would work because I’ve tried so many times before but i’ll try to explain as thoroughly as possible.
Ok let’s get started. Below is a picture of things you need.
1. Virgin Hair. I used BK Unique hair
2. L’Oreal Preference in Extreme Platinum
3. Trulites Rapid Blue powder bleach
4. Trulites Peroxide in 40 vol
5. Directions white toner
6. Directions silver hair dye
I’m pretty sure you can use any powder bleach or 40 vol peroxide but this is what I used.
The first thing you have to do is bleach your hair using the powder bleach and peroxide. (If you’ve never bleached hair before, check out some youtube vids. It’ll help you visualize what you should be doing and make it easier for your first time.) Leave the bleach on until the hair is a light blonde then wash and leave to dry.
Use the L’Oreal preference hair dye to dye the hair platinum. You should be able to see the colour change. When I used this on my hair, it turned kinda blue and got really warm and I got really freaked out but when I washed it off it was fine (phew) so don’t freak out if that happens lol. Once the hair is platinum, wash it and let it dry.
Now it’s time to apply the white toner. This will take out any yellow tones from the hair and leave it looking white/grey. I’m really impatient so I applied the toner and silver hair dye at the same time and left it for ages before washing and leaving to dry….and crossing my fingers for the best.
And that’s it! Sounds pretty easy right. Yeeeaahhhh it wasn’t. But I’m glad I’ve finally found products that work and I think the hair played a part in how good the results where as well. It didn’t break or feel any less soft than it did when I received it. And it feels exactly the same now wile i’m writing it as it did last month when I did my hair. This hair colour needs maintaining though. I wash it every week with ‘Touch of silver’ shampoo to restore the colour and remove any yellow tones.
